Save Money on the Family Shop
The average family’s shopping bill is usually one of the higher numbers on family budget sheets. There can also be an enormous difference in what each family spends on their shopping, depending on factors, such as the size of household, buying name brands, more meat or organic products, etc.
The good news is you can make significant savings if you decide to be a bit frugal with shopping. The Following simple tips will have you well on your way to save money on the family shop.
Make a meal plan. You’ll then know what you need from the shop before you go.
Watch for special deals and vouchers from in store emails and look for seasonal produce and plan meals around what’s abundant.
Make your list and stick to it. If it’s not on the list, don’t buy it.
Don’t ever shop when you’re hungry. That way you won’t ever be tempted to buy things that you don’t need.
Shop alone. Or better still online! Count on your bill being much higher when you bring your spouse or children.
Only buy things you know you’ll use. For example, if your family doesn’t like sprouts, don’t buy sprouts in the hopes that they’ll eat healthier this week.
Items on the bottom shelf tend to have lower prices. Stores will place branded and more expensive items in your eye line!
Buy store own brands when the quality is the same. Most of the time, it is the same product in a different package.
It’s pretty easy to do once you realise how much money you’re saving with these simple steps. Also, keep a log of your shopping bills, so you can see how much of a difference you are making.
