Roald Dahl Day 2018 is a fun day to celebrate this beloved author. Did you know if he were still alive today he would be 101 years old?!
Which is your favourite Roald Dahl book? Matilda? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Or is something else? A story maker genius, his books have a been a delight to many generations here and even to come. Roald Dahl was a spy, an ace fighter pilot, a chocolate historian and a medical inventor.
Born in Llandaff, Wales, on 13th September 1916 to Norwegian parents, Harald Dahl and Sofie Magdalene Hesselberg, Dahl was named after Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian who had been the first man to reach the South Pole just four years earlier.
He died on 23 November 1990, aged 74. He was buried in the parish church of St Peter and St Paul in Great Missenden – the Buckinghamshire village where today The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre continues his extraordinary mission to amaze, thrill and inspire generations of children and their parents.

This year Dahl Day falls on September 13th. But you can celebrate it for the whole month of September. Here are some ideas on how to recognize this fun author:
1. Dress up as a Roald Dahl character. Pick a beloved character out of your favourite Roald Dahl story and dress up as them. Can your friends guess who you are?
2. Read a Roald Dahl Book. What a better way to celebrate than to curl up with a wonderful and entertaining book.
3. Make a peach pie! In honour of James and the Giant Peach, bake a peach pie. Yummy!
4. Create a dream jar. Like in the BFJ, create your own awesome dream.
