Easter may not seem as big a retail event as Christmas Day, Valentines Day or even Mothers Day, but, it is still a commercially viable event each and every year.
What about all those Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns that get consumed after all…
Obviously, if you sell chocolate, Easter IS big business. However other types of business can also enjoy Easter using some clever promotional tools.
Boxing Day 2013 was the biggest online shopping day ever and the internet now accounts for 10.2% of all retail spending*. The increase in internet shopping was profound last year with online sales averaging £615m a week. So, what can you do to get a chunk of this chocolate? We’ve put together a few useful tips.
Spread the word – advertise through Social Media, Email Marketing and Online to inform your customers about products and special offers. Our Business Memberships are perfect for this as they combine all of these elements by the way.
Theme your website or Gmums mini-site – We use keywords throughout your mini site and blogging is a great way to highlight what you do – so blog, blog, blog. It’s also fantastic for Search Engine Optimisation – which is basically getting to the top of Google.
Personalise your online presence for the holiday – whether it’s hearts for Valentine’s or bunnies for Easter, customising your Website, Facebook and Twitter pages promotes your product and engages visitors so they will hopefully spend longer looking around and be more likely to buy something.
Decorate your retail space – just as you would online, do the same for your physical shop. Using a few well placed fluffy chicks or foil eggs you can entice more custom through your doors.
Categorise your products – organising your products into categories, such as ‘gifts for her’, improves your customer’s journey around your shop/site and is great for people shopping for a specific person, item or occasion.
Deals and MumsCard – offers such as ‘2 for 1’ and ongoing loyalty cards like MumsCard are ideal for putting your products into packages and encouraging the consumer to buy more. Easter and Christmas are also classic holidays where people typically purchase more than one item and if that’s also the case for Valentine’s Day, then who are we to judge… 😉
Special Events – have a Special Event to celebrate Easter or showcase something new. It could even be a free taster session for a class or maybe your new services.
Competitions – run an Easter themed competition with a great prize. We can also help you do this and it’s pretty painless to arrange!
