Jennifer Skylark and the Seagull’s Handbook

skylarkinsertSaturday 27th July – Sunday 11th August 2013

Join us as we return to the atmospheric Electrician’s Basement at Trinity Buoy Wharf, home to last year’s sell-out family hit Balthazar’s Bazaar of the Bizarre, for an all new site-specific family show.

When an unfortunate twist of fate separates Jennifer from her guardian Uncle, she finds herself on board a giant ship destined for Australia.

As her unexpected nautical adventure unfolds, her strange surroundings bring to life Jennifer’s ingenious imagination, conjuring up a variety of weird and wonderful companions to help her on her way.

Storytelling, puppetry, and live music combine to form this fantastical interpretation of factual events, marking the exciting debut of new theatre company Powderkeg.

Go to the large roundabout and turn left leading you over the River Lea bridge. Turn left at the foot of the bridge and follow the Lea to the roundabout with the Esso Station on the right. Keep following the Lea round to the left by PURA Foods and the path emerges onto Orchard Place. Bear right and continue on until you reach Trinity Buoy Wharf at the end.

CAR: Follow signs to Leamouth on the A13 or from Aspen Way. At the Leamouth roundabout (Esso Petrol Station), take the Lower Lea Crossing exit. Almost immediately, go left after the bridge. At the T-junction turn right onto Orchard Place and follow the road round to Trinity Buoy Wharf. Parking is available on site but is extremely limited. Went to see this production yesterday. The children and myself were blown away by it. There was great acting and songs. A beautiful boat that we gradually explored. A very moving story and lots of silliness. My children have been singing 'Bob' all morning! (that makes sense when you see the show!) The show happening all around the children was such an unusual and wonderful experience.

I thoroughly recommend seeing this!

NB - It suggests that it's suitable for 8+ but there were some 5 year olds in the audience who were enjoying it equally as much!
