About this event:
From online productions of family classics to clowning and storytelling workshops, the annual Greenwich Children’s Theatre Festival is BACK and it’s now ONLINE!
Launching the programme with the tale of Peter Pan’s companion Michael Darling is Little Darling: Behind the Scenes, a short film exploring Puppetry, Music, Characters and Shadow Play, perfect for all ages. We also welcome back a major name in children’s literature when Chiff Chaff Theatre streams their wonderful production of Whatever Next by Jill Murphy and Action Transport Theatre return Happily Ever After, a wordless not-to-be-missed fairytale with a twist!
If you’re looking for a wonderful Zoom workshop for the kids to get involved with, the Festival has an action-packed line-up. Little Bean Theatre will be leading a child-led musical workshop in Sound Scribbles and CultureClash Theatre will show you how to be creative with an interactive storytelling workshop using improvisation with Moving Stories. Less Theatre’s Playing with Puppets workshop will show you how to create beautiful puppets out of anything you can find in your recycling bin or join Filament Theatre for their workshops on mask making and singing.
The wonderful two-week Festival is rounded off with Aca Theatre’s slapstick, aerobatic and physical comedy Better Together and The Bone Ensemble will provide a moving, magical story dripping with fun, about how to care for the world and its precious resources with GULP!, featuring a live post-show Q&A over Zoom! With something for everyone, this fantastically interactive Children’s Festival is not one to be missed.
Thanks to supporting from Arts Council England all artists are being paid but the Festival is entirely free for audiences and participants. The Festival is very much a part of our recovery as we fight back from a long period of closure due to the pandemic and we hope to be presenting live theatre again very soon but we still have a way to go – so if you watch one of our festivals shows or join a workshop and you enjoy it, do please consider making a donation towards our future.
