About this event:
Let your children loose at the Greenwich Book Festival this June. There’s a packed programme of storytelling, comic-making, meeting top CBeebies authors and discovering science.
This event is suitable for: All children
Hosted in the glorious riverside grounds of the University of Greenwich at the Old Royal Naval College, right next to the Cutty Sark, the festival starts with an After-School Club on Friday 15 June and runs throughout Saturday 16 June. The festival features a wide range of events for teenagers and grown-ups too.
Dynamic duo Philip Ardagh and Elissa Elwick will tell their tale of Sally Stick and her dog Fetch, hapless detectives who leave a trail of mayhem behind them.
Young adult superstars Patrick Ness, author of the Chaos Walking triology, and Angie Thomas, author of the bestselling novel The Hate U Give, will be talking about their award-winning works.
Kids are invited to get creative in a wide range of workshops including book illustration, puppet-making, and Lego storytelling in a magic campervan. There are free activities throughout Saturday alongside food and drink stalls, a pop-up bookshop, face-painting and roaming children’s characters.
Make a rainbow with festival Illustrator in Residence Ged Adamson after he reads from his new book, Ava and the Rainbow (Who Stayed)
Enter the world of hit CBeebies show Olobob Top at a fun crafting event led by Olobob creator Leigh Hodgkinson.
The Fayre Players will be bringing their special campervan and 967 Lego bricks for a live story-making adventure.
Award-winning comics maestro Neill Cameron makes a hugely welcome return following his 2017 sell-out comic-making workshop while Anthony Johnson, the author of more than 50 comics and graphic novels, will explain how to write video games and graphic novels.
Okido, the cult arts and science magazine for under-8s that has been delighting our festival fans for years, returns with a workshop on music.
