About this event:
Greenwich Peninsula’s Urban Village Fete is set to return this year with another unique, quirky and modern twist on the traditional summer fete.
Following the great success of last year’s inaugural event. Greenwich Peninsula and Hemingway Design are reuniting for the FREE, Urban Village Fete in one of the capital’s most exciting cultural districts. Celebrating the best in design, music, art, with innovative events & modern craftsmanship.
The free day out will feature a range of designer marketplaces, street food, design hubs, artist interventions, diverse and quirky events, art and design workshops, walkabout entertainment, music, dance classes and unique pop-ups.
There are interactive workshops and cultural activities for all ages ranging from 1Drum’s en-masse drumming workshop, Marawa’s Majorettes group, hoola hooping sessions, French artist Paul Henri’s spectacular folding paper hat workshops, Chapeau Magique to becoming a DJ for the day with The Charity Shop DJ.
This year’s Urban Village Fete will see the triumphant return of Gilles Peterson to the DJ decks, as well as the welcome addition of successful roaming walkabout acts, including immersive performances from the National Youth Theatre, life-sized slinkies, and brass band house music mayhem from Mr Wilson’s Second Liners.
Greenwich Peninsula is an emerging new district for London and a cultural hotspot with recent and forthcoming design and lifestyle collaborations with luminaries from across the worlds of art, design and architecture: Tom Dixon, Conran Design, Lazarides Print Editions, Shunt and Conrad Shawcross.
Hemingway Design Founded by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway in 1981, HD has grown into a multi-disciplinary and award-winning design agency, which is now led by two generations of the Hemingway family and a pool of talented designers.
