It’s National Children’s Day!

Come and play to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of play for children (and adults), especially in education, at Greenwich Steiner School between 11am and 4pm on 17th May 2015. There will be plenty of games for all ages and the opportunity to share in some home-cooked food.

Lots of things have conspired to reduce the amount of play in children’s lives (such as a risk averse society and the downward pressures of the schooling system) and this really matters, not only for their own health and wellbeing, but also for the happiness and wellbeing of adults too.

An initiative of the Save Childhood Movement, the day is being used to raise awareness about the issue and bring together all the people who want to see play reinstated as essential to human creativity and innovation. It is playful thinking that lies at the core of all the arts and sciences – and that play is also increasingly being recognised as vital for a 21st-century business world.
