About this event:
This Easter, join us in the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House for an exciting new visual and musical treat. Designed specifically for families, the Royal Opera House has joined forces with Opera North and The Wrong Crowd to bring together opera, puppetry and live action in a unique, family-friendly chamber opera, Swanhunter.
Based on the Finnish folk epic The Kalevala, Swanhunter follows Lemminkäinen on an exhilarating adventure to the icy north in search of a bride. In order to achieve his goal, he is set an impossible mission: he must face the devil’s elk, ride the devil’s horse and shoot a swan, but little does he know of the danger lurking in the shadows…
Scored for six singers accompanied by six instruments, this production builds on the huge success of Opera North’s The Adventures of Pinocchio and is suitable for anyone aged 8 to 80.
With tickets available for just £8-£25, Swanhunter is a perfect first introduction to opera, and is sure to delight adults and children alike.
