Celebrate the coronation of Charles III with a whole host of fun events at the Old Royal Naval College. There will be live music, lawn games, street food, a parade by the Sea Cadets, afternoon teas, a £5 Friday Late in the Painted Hall, guided tours with a royal twist, as well as Coronation souvenirs in the Mews Bookshop. The National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House are hosting a series of free events marking the coronation of King Charles III, including royal-themed tours, picnics on the lawns and fun family workshops.
Visitors can enjoy free tours and talks at the National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House during the long weekend. Additionally, you can experience the past by meeting a 17th-century astronomer, cartographer, and rope-maker during the reign of Charles II. The Royal Observatory will also host talks and demonstrations open to all ticket holders.
This Monday, Sea Cadets from Greenwich are aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Boatswain’s Call Lesson’. Other Sea Cadet units from around the country will also be participating in this challenge, and hundreds of cadets will gather on the lawns outside the Queen’s House. Will they succeed in setting a new record? If you’re curious, head over to Greenwich to witness it yourself!
Then take a leisurely walk in the Royal Park over to The Fan Museum. Who is currently hosting a special exhibition titled “Coronations & Celebrations,” featuring a collection of fans dating back centuries, including an English fan commemorating the restoration of King Charles nearly 400 years ago.
Further up the river, Greenwich Yacht Club celebrates King Charles’s Coronation with a yacht and dinghy race on the Thames. Watch from our clubhouse balcony. The race starts at 2.45 pm and lasts about 90 minutes, followed by a prize-giving ceremony at about 5.30 pm. Sunday lunch is being served from 1.00 pm to 4 pm. The clubhouse closes at 7.00 pm.
Residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich are invited to watch the King’s Coronation on the big screen in style on Saturday, May 6th. Taking place in General Gordon Square, this ticketed event will run from 10 am to 4 pm. In addition to screening all the live action from Westminster Abbey, there will also be free children’s crafts and activities, along with family entertainment that is fit for royalty.
Just a short hop away, you can carry on the party at Artillery Square, Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, to celebrate the Coronation on Saturday 6th May. Enjoy street food, bars and live music at the Royal Arsenal Riverside Market. Grab a drink or some food at one of the market stalls and dance away to DJ Lord Ant’s mix of retro tunes until 8 pm as part of Woolwich Lates.

The Oystercatcher On May 6, from 11 am to 4 pm the Oystercatcher will be hosting a bottomless brunch served with unlimited prosecco, bellinis or Pimms. Offering a range of bunch options, including buttermilk waffles or their brunch burger with smoked bacon and spiced sausage. The pub will also be screening the coronation of King Charles on the day.
On Monday, May 8, at Richard The First pub for a Bank Holiday garden party. The South London Jazz Orchestra will be performing, so booking in advance is recommended to ensure a table.
The Cutty Sark pub has planned two days of fun-filled activities, including delectable food and live entertainment. On May 7, Sunday, the pub will serve a scrumptious “King’s roast,” while guests can grove to the lively tunes on Monday.
Arguably the best-dressed pub in Greenwich, The Trafalgar Tavern, will once again be hoisting the bunting to mark the occasion. Complemented by the enchanting alfresco illuminations que riverside position. The outside decorations are complemented by exquisite red, white and blue floral displays throughout the Trafalgar’s interior. The Coronation itself will be live-streamed on screens throughout the pub and to toast the event, a delicious Coronation Cocktail based on the King’s favourite tipples.
