Comedy on the Common was started in February 2008 by Nick Wallden and Sarah Williams, who go to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival each year with a group of like-minded friends to watch comedy and other high brow shows.
A chance-meeting with actor and comedian David Whitney started the club on its way. David came to Greenwich Rugby Football Club (RFC) to play rugby, though has never played due to his busy schedule. On finding out David was a comedian, Nick, Secretary of Greenwich RFC, asked if he would like to help set up a comedy club at the Rugby Club premises. He put us on to his agent who handles many top acts.
