Established in 1881 by William Webster, the Conservatoire is part of the oldest surviving purpose-built cultural complex in London, and a much-loved local institution. It was founded to provide art, music and drama education to the community and its values remain those of Creativity, Quality and Community.
The Conservatoire is the focus of arts education and events in South East London and provides exceptional teaching for ages 0 to 100. We run on average 350 courses per term (three times a year), serving over 4000 students a year, as well as offering over 20 types of individual tuition, accessed by more than 600 students a term. As such, it is vitally important that current and potential users can easily access information about our courses, tuition and teachers, and where possible, take the opportunity to book these services online.
In addition to termly tuition, we offer holiday courses and special events. These events include Family Jazz concerts and Masterclasses, students’ concerts and exhibitions, one-off arts and craft/lifestyle classes and our annual festive season, including fake snow and a giant igloo.
