Popular Ice Age character Scrat – known for being the plucky cross between a squirrel and a rat – is coming to Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way in Charlton, on Friday 19th August and the nice people at the park got in touch with Greenwichmums to let us know a little bit more about the event.
He is set to appear at regular intervals between 11am at 4pm at the free, open-to-all event. The event has been put on to provide summer holiday fun for families local to the Park and its 14 high street stores.
Scrat, the acorn-obsessed, saber-toothed squirrel is one of the key characters from 20th Century Fox’s children’s animated franchise, Ice Age, which tells the story of a group of animals struggling to survive during the dawning of the original ice age more than 850 million years ago.
The first film from the franchise was released in 2002 and there have since been four sequels, with the latest, Ice Age: Collision Course hitting cinemas earlier this year to popular acclaim
Popular children’s film character Scrat, is coming to Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way in Charlton.
Now, fans from across Greenwich borough have the chance to see the film character first-hand at this special community event.
Rionne Williams, spokesperson for Greenwich Shopping Park, is pleased to bring the character to south-east London. She said: “The Ice Age films and Scrat have been a firm favourite with children across the country ever since the first film came out almost 15 years ago. With so many of our customers being parents, we were very keen to bring him to the Park and give back to the local community.”
Plus, with Frankie and Benny’s and Starbucks having just opened at the Park, the event will provide a great opportunity for families to enjoy the free entertainment while exploring all the Park has to offer. “We are looking forward to welcoming Scrat to Greenwich Shopping Park and hope that the event will provide lots of fun and laughs for parents and children alike!”
Visitors will be able to see Scrat at Greenwich Shopping Park. There will also be photo opportunities and the Park will be sharing photos from the day via social media channels.
