The Albany and Canada Water Theatre’s autumn season of events features a huge range of family-friendly shows for families with kids aged 6 months to 12+, including dance, circus, puppetry and more. Our venues are welcoming and accessible with café’s and free kids activities, plus a large garden at the Albany for children to explore.
This season’s programme includes a spectacular festive treat at the Albany throughout December; Humbug! The Hedgehog Who Couldn’t Sleep is a humorous and uplifting tale of a hedgehog searching for a place to hibernate. Plus, for older children head to Deptford Lounge for The Last Noël a play with live music by award-winning writer Chris Bush, or to Canada Water Theatre for a brand new adaptation of Hans Christen Andersen’s The Snow Queen (featuring creative captioning and integrated BSL), Frozen Snow Queen.
If you’re looking for something to do this October Half Term, we have the unforgettable adaptation of Raymond Briggs’ The Bear from Pins and Needles Productions at the Albany and Little Angel Theatre and Goblin’s unique puppet show, Emily Rising, at Canada Water Theatre.
There are also several inspiring performances that will teach children about climate change and how to be sustainable in a fun and engaging way. These include One Duck Down, the true story of 7,000 Rubber Ducks cast adrift in a storm (featured on Blue Planet II), two work-in-progress performances exploring planting and gardening – Plot 17 and Errol’s Garden and aerial circus performance Stella, which teaches young audiences the importance of turning out the lights and saving our stars.
Plus, some of our favourite family theatre companies return to us with magical productions including Little Angel Theatre’s acclaimed adaptation We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, Dance Umbrella’s Hocus Pocus, Tall Stories’ The Snow Dragon and something for really little ones with the return of last season’s sell-out show for ages 6 to 18 months, Kaleidoscope.
