The House of Wayward Plants: Plant Adoption Event at the Smithfield Greenhouse is a major new commission for Culture Mile at Smithfield Rotunda Garden which is open to everyone. Designed by the award-winning landscape, art and architecture practice, Wayward, this ambitious summer pavilion is inspired by the stories of Victorian plant explorers and a 19th Century craze known as “Fern Fever” or “Pteridomania.”

The House of Wayward Plants is the long-running plant rehoming project by Wayward. As the Official Reuse Partner of the Royal Horticultural Society’s major shows, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the House of Wayward Plants rehomes thousands of plants each year to community and school gardens. On Saturday 20 July, the House of Wayward Plants hold a free plant adoption event at the Smithfield Greenhouse at Smithfield Rotunda Garden, teaming up with the National Trust and offering visitors the chance to adopt a plant from the world famous RHS Hampton Court Flower Show.
