About this event:
Fresh from two sold-out nights at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in January and a critically-acclaimed performance at the BBC Proms last summer, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra is coming to Blackheath Halls, and this time they’re bringing their friends.
This event is suitable for: All ages
This event costs: £15 | £13 conc. | £10 under 18s
Three Nations Under One Groove is a collaboration between the National Youth Jazz Orchestras of the UK (NYJO), Germany (BuJazzO) and Holland (NJJO), and don’t let the word ‘youth’ fool you – this is 70 of Europe’s top emerging professional jazz musicians up to the age of 25 grooving & soloing hard with all the explosive might of a world-class band.
Each band will present a programme that showcases their unique national jazz dialects before the nationalities combine into three mixed orchestras.
The bands have been collaborating since 2014, but the project takes on a particular significance this year. Touring in the week after the UK’s planned departure from the EU, these young musicians are making an impassioned plea for continued cultural exchange between our nations.
Once you’ve experienced the infectious energy with which they perform together on stage, you won’t be able to help but agree with them!
