Meeting Mr Boom! is a magical Music and Dance Show for all ages that will premiere right at Greenwich Dance on March 1st before embarking on a Nationwide Tour!
In ‘Meeting Mr Boom!’ a young girl is magically transported to an exciting new world which is constantly shifting; she meets new friends that guide her on a journey of transformation, overcoming fresh challenges and learning to adapt to a beautiful yet unpredictable new environment.
Featuring a lively cast of international performers who dance and play musical instruments ‘Meeting Mr Boom!’ is performed on an ingenious inflatable set (designed by Ricardo Pardo) that will grow before the audience’s very eyes.
Choreography is by Darren Ellis (Mark Bruce Company, Richard Alston, Matthew Bourne, Random), Music is by percussionist and composer Ronen Kozokaro (Laban, Rambert, Matthew Bourne). Together Darren and Ronen have created a highly entertaining show of dance, theatre and music which will take the audience on an imaginative journey of discovery and delight – young and old alike.
Choreographer and Co-Director Darren Ellis said: “Ronen and I are interested in creating new environments for performers so when we started experimenting by working with the dancers on a bouncy castle, the whole thing just lent itself perfectly to creating a show for a family audience. My own experience in making a children’s show with Springs Dance Company, based on Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant, helped us develop a sense of fun and freedom and I think audiences are really going to enjoy it.”
Ronen Kozokaro, composer and co-director added: “As a composer for dance I was always intrigued by the similarities of the two art forms. I find the process of collaboration with a choreographer a fascinating one and in the case of ‘Meeting Mr Boom!’ it is extra special. It felt fresh from the moment we decided to use an inflatable set as the base for our show. The hard work of all the creative team has proved to me that it’s great working with a group of creative people; the input from each artist involved has helped make this show magical, crazy and fascinating all at the same time.”
